ADDENDUM: We are posting an addendum to our own problem submitted above, with an additional clarification. Since posting, we have found that the disparity in being able to drill-down arises from whether we are working in Elements Organizer with NAMED people stacks or UNNAMED people stacks. In the case of UNNAMED people stacks, we can view faces, double-click a face, view a grid of the media with the photo or video selected, then enlarge the photo or view the video in order to identify the unnamed person or stack.
On the other hand, we CANNOT do the same thing when working with NAMED people stacks. It is beyond comprehension why this would be the case. Even with NAMED stacks we are trying to positively identify people and remove improperly identified faces (automated face analysis or manual mistakes) from a NAMED stack. Yet, we cannot drill-down to the media (photo or video), like in UNNAMED stacks, in order to identify the person. The faces are often too small, dark, in profile, or blurry and can only be identified by zooming into the photo or watching the video. So why would we be robbed of the drill-down feature in NAMED stacks?
ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS:
- We have also observed while drilling-down in UNNAMED stacks (double-clicking a face), that the media associated with the face is NOT brought up separately as an enlarged photo or playable video. Instead, it is merely selected and hidden amongst all the media displayed in a grid format for that stack. Fortunately, in the case of hundreds of photos, the program DOES take you to the window on the grid that shows the selected media. The user must then double-click the photo or video in order to drill-down further and enlarge the photo or play the video. When drilling-down, why even bring up the grid with all the media for the stack, why not eliminate steps and all the frustration by just bringing up the desired photo as an enlargement or playable video?
- Another frustrating problem when working with NAMED people stacks, is that the option to ADD NAME is removed from the context menu (mouse right-click) when listing faces for a NAMED stack. The only context menu option we have is to mark the selected faces as NOT THIS PERSON. In other words, the faces cannot be moved to their proper stack, only disassociated from the current named person. This is really aggravating, especially in the case of family members or siblings who have been misidentified by the automated face analysis features of the program (which are great), but have been improperly lumped together because of a similarity of features. In such cases, it would be easy to select all the mis-identified faces and use the ADD NAME option like in UnNAMED stacks, but the option is NOT available.
- Finally, we have noted that when drilling down, in both NAMED and UnNAMED people stacks, there doesn't seem to be anyway to identify the filename or location of the photo. This makes it extremely difficult to identify and retrieve the photo from the hard drive in another program in order to enlarge it even more or clarify an identity.
As newer users, perhaps we have missed some obvious options here. But if not, Adobe has inadvertantly (hopefully) complicated an extremely simple process. Why not just let us double-click any face, named or unnamed, immediately display an enlarged photo or playable video, then let us further zoom-in/out or pan in order to positively identify a face? This seems to be a critical shortcoming of the Adobe Organizer!!
