I thought it would be great to record my videos in 4k, but think it was a mistake as the files are huge and finding a simple way of compressing them is difficult. Would therefore like to export using one of the presets, eg 1080, but the presets don't allow (or I haven't found a way) for mono audio rather than stereo. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful. Always used Free Video Compressor, but assuming this app won't accept 4k as it's not working. Thanks
Why do you need the video in mono?
The program can certainly output your 4K video as 1920x1080 -- though, assuming your 4K videos are MP4s, they shouldn't be all that large. A reasonably powerful computer should have no problems working with them.
That said, if you do decide to use a video converter to down-rez your video, I'd recommend HandBrake. Its quality is excellent, its controls are easy to use and it's free. There's no guaranteeing other converters will create an editable file.

Thank you. Yes I see the many preset options but all in stereo with no way to change. The videos are for Udemy courses and bizarrely, if you export the audio in mono, the sound comes out of both speakers according to their technical department. Yes, thought about Handbrake but trying to avoid so much time processing these videos, so exporting a smaller, mono file is the best option, so probably will have to go back to using my old PE version and avoid 4k recording in the future.
