Using PRemiere Elements 2018.  My narration is garbled...tried both clicking and unclicking the 'mute audio while recording' option.  I have the speakers on my computer turned off.  Using my laptops microphone.  Just switched from Windows Movie Maker and never had this problem, so don't think it's my computer.  I'm sure I have something clicked/unclicked incorrectly...any guidance much appreciated.

Have you tried using an external microphone?

You don't say which operating system you're using, but it's possible your drivers (particularly your High Definition Audio) are not completely up to date.

It's also possible you're getting feedback (even if you've muted while recording). Have you turned your speakers completely down before recording?

You may also want to post a sample of the results you're getting to YouTube and then link your post to it so we can hear. We may be better able to help if we know exactly what we're addressing.

Hi Steve,

Thanks in advance for piping in here.

Here is a link to the garbled audio I am getting. It's just audio.

Narration sample - YouTube

I did try it with the mic in my ear buds and it is MUCH better.  So...what does that tell me (other than I need to use my earbud mic!)?

I am windows 10...I'll go update my High Def Audio drivers.

My speakers are completely Off

That sounds like just a bad mike to me.

Here's the USB microphone I use. It's an amazing value!

Amazon.com: CAD U37 USB Studio Condenser Recording Microphone: Musical Instruments

But I think you'll find any USB microphone is an improvement over your webcam mike.
