I want to make a slideshow.  I import beautiful photos, I render them, they turn into photos that look like I zoomed too much and got pixels.  Am I missing a step?

What are your Project Settings (as listed under Project Settings under the Edit menu)?

Which Export and Share Settings did you use?

No matter how deep the resolution of your photos, your final slideshow will only be the resolution of your project and output.

Nope.

Your slideshow will be 720x480 pixels. That's going to look low resolution a computer but should look fine on a TV (although not nearly as sharp as the original photos, of course, which may well have been 4000x3000 pixels or larger).
