Motion titles that remain visible following the motion effect ...

We are working with video titles and text in Premiere Elements.  However, we have a dilemma with applying animated motion effects to text as follows:

FIRST, it appears that a text animation, such as Spin Up animation, plays out over the full length of the inserted title video clip.  Therefore, the clip must be short in order to have the motion play out quickly.  At least for now, we see no way to shorten the duration of the text animation effect while extending the display of the non-animated text following the animation.  Are there properties we can adjust to limit the duration of the animation at the beginning of a longer title clip?

SECOND, in order to have the word or line remain displayed following the effect, do we have to duplicate the word or line as a separate clip following the animated clip and extend the static clip out to the end of the video so it will remain displayed?

THIRD, is there an effect for making a text word or line FLASH for a few seconds when it is first displayed in the video?  We would like to use this effect to attract attention to certain words or phrases.

Thank you for any assistance.

You don't have much control over the Text Animations. They just are what they are and they can't be modified. Which is why most of us create our own text animations with keyframes. In fact, as you note, I know of no way to have text stay on screen after an animation other than duplicating the text as you suggest.

The flash effect is fairly simple to produce using keyframed Opacity settings.

Thank you, Steve, we appreciate your response.  Thank you also for your suggestions on flashing text, we had actually considered that option, but seemed like unneccesary work if there was already a preset animation.

As to controlling the duration of the motion animation, we were a little surprised.  It seems to be common to see designs where the animation is added for a few seconds to capture immediate attention, such as new bullet points being added to a list that persist following the animation.  Being able to control the duration of a longer clip would be immensely useful.

Obviously, an animation in a long clip that takes, say, 5-10 minutes to spin in four or five letters would not be very effective.  Thank you so much for your insights, they are really helpful even when save us from chasing a feature that simply is not there!

Hello Steve,

A follow-up question, if we may.  You said that "The flash effect is fairly simple to produce using keyframed Opacity settings".  Do you have a simple set of instructions that would help us see how to create the flash effect using keyframed Opacity settings?  We are pretty unfamiliar with keyframes, but we are intriqued by the suggestions that effects can be started and stopped using keyframes.

Thanks for your assistance.
