As I make a mp4 file of the clips there is no sound in the film.

Neither there is sound in the time line after making a mp4.

Are you saying that you do not see a waveform for the clip's sound on the timeline? Can you post a screen capture of the timeline to this forum so we can see it?

Not hearing sound that is there is very different than having a clip in which no sound appears, so let's make sure we're chasing the right issue.

Meantime, what model of camcorder is your MP4 coming from? Which version of the program do you have and on what operating system?

Do you have Quicktime installed on your computer?

Yes, there is a waveform for the clip's sound on the timeline.

So it is a clip with sound when I play it in a regular player, that's not the problem.

The clips I've got problems with are BDMV files from a dvd from wich I try to make a mp4 file.

I didn't install Quicktime.

I assume there is a problem with not anough space in any memory or so.

Here is a screen capture.

I've made several mp4's without problems, but sudenly it doesn't work anylonger.

(sorry for my bad English!)

The software you used to make the MP4s from your DVD did a truly awful job. The audio waveform is almost invisible, which is why it's way too quiet to hear.

Is this a commercial DVD? If so, you will likely have difficulty ripping from it.

If it is a DVD that was created by an individual, however, you should use Premiere Elements to rip the video from the disc toy our computer. You can do this by putting the DVD in your computer's disc drive and then going to Add Media and selecting the option to add media from DVD Camera or Computer Drive. This will open software for copying the video from the DVD to your hard drive in a format that Premiere Elements can edit.

Thank you for your reply.

It isn't a commercial DVD but a DVD I made my self with Pinnacle in the past.

I followed your suggestion and tried to rip the DVD from the disc drive of my computer but I got an error.

"file already exists" is what I get.

If I change the path I get the same message.

It's so strange because I've don it several times and never got problems.

is there perhaps an other solution?

You need to direct the file(s) to be saved into a folder in which there are no other video files.

I've created an empty new folder but I get the same message.

Every folder I choose, with or without video files, give the same message "file already exists".

I solved the problem!

What was going on?

My pc stores the temporary files and work files of Adobe in the directery capture video E:

But I worked out that there wasn 't enough space on that drive.

I deleted about 30 Gb and after that I didn't had any problem!
