+I have an IMac with both IMovie and Premiere 2019 installed.

I can not get my DV cam to work in Premiere (can not find it)

When running IMovie it will find it.

I want to use premiere as it is more like film editing

Any solutions?

Premiere Elements stopped support miniDV and HDV tape-based capture in version 12, peter.

If you've got iMovie, you can use it to capture your video. Otherwise there's a great program called LifeFlix available through the app store -- but it costs about $49.95.
