Premiere Elements 17 distorts timeline MTS clip

I am working on a project including MTS files of 4 different cameras recording the same event from different angles.

With only one file I have problems:

- final approx 12 secs of 10min 39 sec clip remains empty

- total duration of clip stays roughly as original

- timeline is distorted. It speeds up at various locations (I assume it makes the actual video/audio content approx 12 sec shorter)

The source clip is okay. When I play it in Windows Media player there is no problem (no speeding up, video/audio until end).

Other MTS files of same camera are also okay.

Camera used is a Sony rx-10 iii. Files where automatically truncated during recording due to max file size (as with most other files in this project).

I tried to restart computer, restart Premiere, delete file as projectelement and add again. Moved succeeding all clips for more than 10 mins later in timeline so that there is certainly enough space and then add clip again. But no success.

Enyone who can help?

First let's make sure we're comparing apples to apples.

Are all of your video sources the same format, resolution and frame rate? And at least as important, do they use the same codec?

If you want consistent performance from the program, the source video must be of consistent specs.

Open one of the video clips that works in the program in the free download MediaInfo. Set MediaInfo's View to Text and then copy the report that appears and paste it to this forum.

Do the same thing with that Sony footage. When we can compare the specs of that Sony footage to that of your other video, we'll better be able to advise you how to proceed.

The L00006.MTS is the one cauing the problems. The others don't.

Which file is giving your problems?

I didn't read every single report, but most of the videos show pretty much the same specs.

If you place all of these videos end to end on the timeline of a new project, do any of them show a yellow-orange 'render' line above them?

I shortened the output file above to include only the output for one video file per camera. The one giving the problems is L00006.mts.

I read your last comment about the rendering line. There is an orange line above the tracks that does not span the entire project.

What does the orange line mean? The Adobe help is terrible. Can't find anything about it. Is it relevant to my problem?

The L00006.mts file is meant to fill the gap between L00005 and L00007 in the timeline (where the CTI is). But whenever I try to do that, that is when the distortion occurs.

As Pr Elements cannot do spanned clips I would run the clips through Sony PlayMemory (if that is the correct name) first to stitch the clips together before bringing them into Elements.

I really can't tell what's going on from that screen shot, marcel.

Can you start a new project and place a video on the timeline on the Video 1 track? If you see no render line above it, add one clip from each camcorder to the timeline after it. Then let me know which appear with a yellow orange render line above them.

But you need to start a new project to do this experiment. Save your current project until after we figure out what's going on.
