Trouble importing and playing Mov video files from a Zoom Q8

Hi I've tried importing Mov files from the memory card of my Zoom Q8 video recorder. The files won't play and when I try importing them again it says they already exists, after I have deleted them all in the cache and in the saved folder.

This is the Gspot details.

G Spot really doesn't give much information on the file. If you could open the file in the free download MediaInfo we could see much more. Set View in MediaInfo to Text and then copy that report and post it to this forum.

It would also be valuable to know which version of the program you're editing with and on what operating system.

First, whenever you work with MOV files in pre-2018 versions of the software you'll want to make sure you had Quicktime installed. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL762?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

But that said, I've never seen a resolution like the one you have listed. 2304x1296 is definitely non-standard, and Premiere Elements is definitely going to have trouble with it.

I'd first try converting the video to a more standard resolution MP4 using the great free download Handbrake. Follow the specs in my tutorial except manually force the 1920x1080 resolution. See if this MP4 works better when you load it into your project.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlvxgVREX-Y&t=49s

But overall I'd say you're not going to be able to edit video with those specs in any consumer video editor. In fact, I'm not sure what editing app to recommend. Can you change the resolution that your camcorder records at?

I have never had Handbrake crash, so I'm not sure what to recommend. If you want to post a sample of your video on a public Dropbox maybe one of us can download it and play with it. But This is a very non-standard video, so there is no one-size fix for your situation unfortunately.
