I have did several slideshows in elements and have never had any trouble getting the pictures to completely fill the screen in expert view. Now for some reason I can't make it happen. When I export to a movie it has some black screen around the pictures. Is there something i'm forgetting to do? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you look under the Edit menu, what is listed on the General page under Project Settings?

What is the height and the width of your photos, as measured in pixels?

I resized the photos to 2000 x 1500. They are now filling the screen. but when I hit play it's skipping scenes and lagging.

You might be running into a memory problem with images that big. Your originals are 6016 x 4000, and the scaled up / down are 1020 x 1080 and now 2000 x 1500. Try this. Re-save the originals to 2000 x 1500 as jpg files with different names. (If you're using png or larger, you'll be using a lot more memory.) Try it again, and see if that helps.

1080i (interlaced field) is not a good choice for stills. Best is to pick a progressive project.

after you downsized the images you need to fit/scale them manually.

You can do one, copy and paste attributes on the rest.
