How do I use PE 15 without internet connection?  When blocked via firewall it takes forever for the application to boot up.  Would like to use software without Adobe being a "partner" in everything I do.

Hi,

It works without internet connection.

Can you please share your system configuration and screenshot while launching Premiere Elements?

Takes 1 1/2 minutes to boot up in "video editor".  Is this normal?

Any thoughts on the excessive boot time?

Looking at the firewall, PE15 appears to be hammering away trying to establish a connection to the internet during the minute & half that I am staring at the initial PE15 banner.

There are some optional parts (effects, scores) of the program that are not initially installed.   I think the idea is to conserve your disk space if you don't want the options.   It may be that you've triggered a request for some of the options and Premier Elements is phoning home to get them.  It may also be finishing the registration process.

There is also a choice for "Web Sharing" that you can turn off.  Look under Edit > Preferences >  Web Sharing.  Next to it is another choice to turn off automatic checking for updates.

Another possibility is that the eLive feature is searching for refreshed content.  I don't know how to turn that off, but it has not been intrusive to my computer.

I do know that my installation has established an initial equilibrium with Adobe's servers and no longer requires a connection.   It boots equally fast when I'm connected and when I'm not.

Thank you Bill.  All valid information.  I do have the "Web Sharing" feature turned off.  From the outset, without doing any projects that might require phoning home, it displays the extended boot time.  Not sure the necessity of the continued registration beyond activation.  In any event the software appears to be dependent on the internet connection and tied to the "cloud" mantra that dominates almost all of Adobe applications.  Lightroom 5 as well as earlier version of Photoshop Elements does not appear to act in this manner.  Guess making the choice of living with it or getting rid of it seems to be the dilemma.

I assure you that mine does not need a connection.  My computer goes with me for weeks long periods of RV camping where there is no internet.  My copies of Premier Elements 15, Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC run fine.  My boot time for Premier Elements is 10 seconds.
