Hi
I've got a problem with video/audio sync, when importing them into Adobe Premier Elements 12.
I'm no beginner but I have not that much experience with videoformates, containers or codecs, nor I have an exact understanding of variable framerates ect.
Up to this moment, I've never had a problem when importing videos and cutting them.
However when I am importing a new videoclip, the audio and video are not in sync. But its not just a delay or offset. The audio matches the video at the beginning but at the end of a 12min file, the audio is 2 seconds delayed although video and audio track end at the same time. Mannually changing playback speed of only the video track by guessing a fitting ratio helps, but is certainly not satisfying.
In addition, displayed frame rate and video duration does not match the file details given by explorer. Adjusting frame rate manually by assuming footage settings does not solve the audio-video mismatch. I've also tried to load different project presets with no success.
I've installed Adobe Premier on various devices, even with different operation systems. Everywhere the problem is the same. On the other hand, opening the file with any other program than Adobe Premier workes fine.
Thanks in advance for help
What model of camcorder is your video coming from? It could be that your video is using a variable frame rate, as I discuss in this video.

I'm recording with my mobile. It's a sony xperia Z5 comact, but I'm useing it more than a year and never had this kind of problem. Just for fun I imported a real movie in premiere and had the same issue.
I downloaded "Handbrake" yesterday and I found out it worked now fine when converting the movie to fixed fps. However, this is not very satisfying convert every videoclip at first. And I still wonder why it worked before and suddenly not anymore.

If you want to confirm the issue, open one of your Sony videos in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy and paste the report it generates to this forum.
I don't know why it used to work but suddenly doesn't. The program itself has not changed. But at least the MediaInfo report will tell us if the issue is with the video file itself.

So here ist the output of Mediainfo of one of the new video.
Actually I used to record in 4K the last times, so I run it through Mediainfo as well.

As we suspected, the issue is that your video includes a variable frame rate.
So I don't know why it worked before. Maybe you were working with shorter videos and didn't notice it. But that's why you're having out of sync issues now.

Yes that could be true, but sometimes I have recorded also longer videos. I guess the fps variation was not that extreme. MediaInfo proved this even now.
Thank you for your support, ... I started to get crazy the last 3 days.
Is there a solution for premiere? A Pugin or an Add-on? To convert every single video shot before editing is not so satisfactory.
Nevertheless, I'm glad to get this problem determined and temporarily solved, so I can now continue with my project.

At this point, I'm not aware of any editor that works well with variable frame rates. Although, since more phones are using it as part of their video compression system, I would expect to see support for it beginning to appear.
Meantime, the only options I know of are converting the video or manually applying some sort of time stretch to match video to audio -- which is even more troublesome.
