video stopping during transition

Why does my video freeze when the cursor is a few seconds from a cross dissolve? I initially starting working on the project using APE12; but when the software stopped working, I purchased APE 2019 and opened the project using this new software, could this be the issue? I've tried rendering the timeline, but this didn't help.

Any idea what the issue is?

General questions are hard to even try to answer.  What is the video source?  What are the details of your computer?

Without more information, the first guess is that either the video files are too complex or your computer is not strong enough.

The video source is a 16gb, class 10, SDHC I SC card. The laptop is a Dell

Inspiron 15, Windows 10 OS.

I hope this info helps.

When you say your video "freezes", do you mean that the timeline suddenly stops playing -- or do you mean that the playhead keeps moving but the picture remains frozen?

Also, please tell us what model of camcorder your footage is coming from.

And, since there are so many different configurations of Dell Inspiron, it would be helpful to know which processor your laptop has.

It's likely a resource issue on your computer. But without the details Bill and I have asked for, we can't be more specific.

I just realized I didn’t read the entire message; I apologize.

The footage was recorded using a Canon 60D DSLR.

As far as more info about my laptop; there is a label which says Dell

Inspiron 15, and another label which says “Intell Inside, CORE i3”.

Does this information help?

An i3 is likely way underpowered for video editing with this program, popto.

Even if we assume your processor is the 5005U, it only rates a 2900 on this chart.

PassMark CPU Benchmarks - High Mid Range CPUs

I'd recommend at least of rating of 6500 for editing HD video.

So I’d need to get another laptop just because I updated my software?

The video plays, the video just stop a few seconds before the timeline

marker reaches the additive dissolve transition. Will it do this on the DVD

as well?

I’m working on a wedding video for a client and time is not of the essence.

My APE 12 software was working fine until my laptop (Windows 8) updated

automatically, then my APE software wouldn’t open my project anymore, which

forced me to purchase APE 2019.

Are there any other options besides buying a new laptop. Perhaps another

transition similar to the dissolve hat won’t cause this to happen?

If version 12 worked better, you can re-install it.  Download Adobe Premiere Elements 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, and 9

If it is only the transition causing the problem, try it without a transition or with another transition.

When you create the DVD, the entire video is re-coded.  During editing you are only seeing previews.  So, it is entirely possible, maybe even probable, that the DVD will have the transition working as you want.

I re-installed it 3 times and still had the same issue of not be able to

open the project (when I double-clicked on project from desktop l, nothing

happened; when I double-clicked on the APE12 from desktop, the welcome page

appeared, but when I selected “open project” it searched for several

minutes and stopped).

I will try with other transitions and see what happens but don’t know why

I’d have a different outcome since a cross dissolve is a rather basic

transition, but I’ll try anything at this point.

So you’re saying though timeline playback freezes near the transition while

editing, it could possibly play correctly when on DVD because the video is

recoded?

Hello,

How do I burn the video to DVD in APE 2019 in HD resolution? My path is

“Export&share>Disc”, but from there I only see SD resolution; where is HD?

Your question isn't really related to the main topic of this thread, popto. So it might be best to start a new thread if you want to pursue this.

But that said Premiere Elements no longer includes the ability to output a high-definition (BluRay) disc.
