Can't change length of clip in Premiere Pro Beta

New Here ,
Dec 04, 2025 Dec 04, 2025

I've been using Premiere Pro Beta 25.6 to work with the new Nikon Z RED footage since it's not supported in Premiere Pro 2025. Up until this morning all has been fine, but today I've been unable to change the length of a clip once it's in the timeline. Screen recording attached (in screen recording I am able to change the length of a clip by about 2 frames at a time...not sure why this changed).

The track is not locked or blocked by other clips.

Have restarted computer, checked to make sure SSDs aren't corrupted.

Updated to Beta 26.0 and this did not solve the issue.

Current workaround is to reveal clip in project, choose in and out points, then replace in timeline. However, this is not very efficient.

Wondering if anyone's found workarounds?

@EmilyRabbideau Would you be willing to share your project file and media? If so, you can upload them using this link: https://www.dropbox.com/request/LxAW04i3ZQ2M7lcy52UR

I have not seen this issue before and I'm unable to reproduce it using R3D NE media and the Premier v26 beta. Getting your project and media would help us determine what the problem is.

You might also like to first try holding down the shift key on launch of Premiere and checking all the boxes. Does the issue happen in other projects too? Or is it a specific project?

Thank you--resetting everything seems to have fixed the issue for now.

Happy to upload file & media if that would help you guys fix this bug for the future, although it's 6TB of footage so let me know if that's a problem.

@EmilyRabbideau that's good news! I suspect deleting the media cache was the thing that fixed your problem. If you relaunch Premiere normally (that is, without the shift key held down), does your project work normally?

Fergus

Weirdly enough, it seems to be tied to if I have playback on a second monitor. If I keep my premiere only on my external monitor, everything works fine. If I set playback to run on my laptop screen as well, clips won't extend/cut.

@EmilyRabbideau Thanks for the time today. I've confirmed that this is a currently known bug in the Premiere v26 beta. It will be fixed before v26 is released.

Regards,

Fergus
