Issues with transcription and text-based editing

I am shooting canon clog3 with dialog audio on channels 1 and 2. Transcription will not work when pointed at channel 1 but will work when pointed to channel 2.

Text-based editing does not seem to delete at all. I can jump around the footage and highlight sections, however it will not delete segments. I have tried editing with other types of footage (MOV from an iphone) and while transcription worked smoothly there, I had the same issues with text-based editing and it will not delete segments.

Before I test this, how are you selecting/deleting?

Do you have "automatically set in/out" on or off?

Are you selecting the source or program monitor view?

Is "delete" greyed out in the right-click option?

etc.

Are you still seeing this in the latest builds? What build are you on now?

Currently using 24.2.0 build 11 and while transcribing seems to be smoother I still cannot edit by deleting text, I have to do it manually. I can at least jump the timeline to where I need to cut by clicking before/after words and silence but I have to make my cuts manually. Better than pure manual, but it would be really nice to just delete the text.

Stan, you inadvertently hit on it. The correct answer is that I had set "Automatically set in/out" to the wrong setting. In order for the text editing to work that needs to be toggled on. I did not know this, and it is not clear. However when I checked each setting based on your answewr, I was suddenly able to edit via text deletion.

There's quite a learning curve for the new text-based editing. And new features are still being added (multichannel audio).

Keep asking questions if it doesn't work the way you think it should; we'll keep sorting it out!
