P: If Default Media Scaling set "Fit to frame" can not add clips to new sequence in Beta v25.1.0.17

UPDATE 9-30-24:  This has been fixed in build 31 or later.  Please update your app!

So while GPU acceleration works again I'm now having a weird issue that I cannot add new audio clips to the timeline anymore.

Issue:

On drag/drop all I get is the empty outline of the clip, which stays when I release left mouse button. After that i can neither move or select it. Tried everything, but it never adds the clip to the timeline.

What is broken:

- Drag/Drop works neither from a project bin nor the source window nor the Windows Explorer.

- Using Insert/Overwrite from the Source Window has no effect.

- When dragging an Audio file to the "New Sequence" button it creates an empty sequence.

- Dragging video files works only if there's no audio track attached

More information:

Yes, the source patching is correctly set. I can also drag/drop new video files (without audio). I can also drag around existing audio clips, duplicate them, replace their contents from source, etc.

Anyone else? I think it was working in the version before the CUDA bug got introduced, but can't be 100% sure.

OKAY I'VE FIGURED IT OUT -- Turns out in my case, setting "Default Media Scaling" in Settings > Media to "Fit" - is what is causing the issue. Setting that back to "none" appears to solve the issue

Experiencing the same, except I also cannot move audio files that are already in the sequence either, my only method of moving stuff currently is with a ripple delete

No matter which process to create a new sequence, right-click the clip, or drag a clip to a blank timeline, or create a new sequence from the menu, then drag clips to it...

There is no image displayed in the program monitor. Previous sequences work normally.

Works okay for me.

Upgraded from Build 8 to 18. When I update anything, I reset preferences and cache, and create a new project. 2 clips used to create sequence, one by dragging to new icon; one by right-click and "sequence from clip."

Both appear in Program Monitor.

I also opened a project from the previous build, and create new sequences there.

You often work in productions? Just plain projects here.

Stan

Same problem. Workong in a large project, all was fine a few hours ago. Then I came back to the project, saw an update. Updated Premiere. After the update, I experienced major lag, plackack is a nightmare. And now, all of my audio is unsynched.

 Hello Adobe Support,

I am experiencing an issue with the latest version of Premiere Pro Beta. The audio channel I added is not visible. I’ve checked to ensure the audio file is properly loaded and not hidden. Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

Thank you!

Still not fixed in v25.1.0.020. Has this bug been replicated by the Adobe Team? Seems like something major.

Do your clips have audio? If yes you might be running into the bug I described here.

I currently cannot add new audio of any kind to sequences, and if I try to make a new sequence with a clip that contains audio it just comes up empty.

Very interesting ... I've only used video/audio combined clips. I could strip the audio and try again. Maybe Monday.

Hi All,

Sorry for the issue. Can you please share some screen-recording of the issue and media/project files where it's easily reproducible ? We will take a look and report back.

Thanks,
Mayjain

Can't really make a recording right now.

But to replicate all I do is:
- create a new project
- add a .wav (or any audio) file to the project
- create an empty timeline

- try dragging the audio to the timeline, and you will only get the "temporary outline", even when you let go of the mouse button. Same when you drag/drop a video file with audio attached. Then it looks a little like this image from another thread. Dragging a video-only file to the timeline works alright.

Confirmed!

Any video only media can be added to a blank or active timeline panel and it is totally normal for image and playback. I've used BRAW and ProRes from a 4.6kG2, ProRes and H264 exported from Premiere.

Loading a clip into the Source monitor, I get playback of image and sound.

Trying to add to or create a sequence with a clip containing both video and sound, I get no image, no sound, no playback.

Just as you mention, blank blue bars in the timeline for the video and audiotracks.

Hi All,

This is what I see currently on both Windows & Mac with every audio file https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyDrnfX6_UI . Working fine in every case.
Can you try resetting app prefereces (press shift while launching Premiere or go to General prefereces/settings -> reset ) and check it again?

Thanks,
Mayjain

Hey guys! I had the same problem yesterday, which was maddening.

Good news is- the solution is fairly simple, although a temp fix until there's a patch for 25.1...open Creative Cloud, next to Premiere Pro Beta click the three dots/cue the prompt that allows you to "install other versions" and run 25.0....I've been editing non-stop for the last 10 hours without an issue- but dang, this zesty issue about gave me a nosebleed.

Hope that solves it for everyone else as well(?).
