Premiere Pro 24.1.0.54: Crash when selecting plug-in title in the inspector to activate on-screen UI

Premiere Pro 24.1 Beta will crash when selecting the title of a third-party effect in the inspector to activate its on-screen UI. This happens with some plugins but not others, suggesting the bug is dependent on how the plug-in is handling events.

Steps to reproduce:

- Install most recent version of FxFactory from our website: https://fxfactory.com/download/

- Launch FxFactory app and install the Face Blur product: https://fxfactory.com/info/faceblur2/

- Launch Premiere Pro. Be prepared to wait a few minutes when the "FxFactory" plugin is loading, due to unrelated regression that appeared in previous build of Premiere (already filed)

- When Premiere is up and running, open a project and drag the Video Effects > Face Blur > Object Blur plugin over an existing clip on your timeline.

- Switch to the parameter inspector and select the Object Blur title to display any on-screen UI for the effect. Doing so will stall Premiere Pro. A few seconds in, the app will crash.

If the above steps aren't clear, watch attached screencast for reference.

We can reproduce the issue in 24.1, and are tracking it as DVAPR-4248234; we'll keep this thread informed of our progress.

The most recent Premiere Pro 24.1 Beta no longer crashes (always a plus :-)) but we are left with non-functioning on-screen UI. It is impossible to click and drag our custom controls. The fact that our plugin is updating a parameter’s value as a result of event tracking is clearly throwing Premiere Pro off.

The same code has been driving our custom on-screen UI for a few releases of AE and Premiere Pro, which doesn't mean it is perfect or bug free, but ideally we need to understand what changed in 24.1 that might require changes to our code. If there is indeed a regression in Premiere that happens to be exposed only by our particular API usage (the luck! ;-)) it would also help to get it sorted out before 24.1 goes public.
