Create a Multicam with Clips from Different Bins

So I'm shooting with two Sony PXW-FS5s. You can't customize file names, and the names are the same, so I ingest the clips into separate folders and import those as bins. Now I need to create a multicam sequence, but since I can't select two clips in different bins, I don't see "Create multicam sequence" command.

Is there a way to create a multicam sequence from clips in a different bin, or do I have to put everything in the same bin first?

Hi @MisterAdvent - at the bottom of your project you will see a green lock icon,  next to that is a button that takes you to "list view" within list view you can click the arrow on bins to reveal your media and select multiple clips so that you can create your multicam sequence.

That's a good workaround, but not intuitive. Then again a lot of things are that way.

Do you have a suggestion on how to improve the experience?  Is there another app that does this better in your opinion?  What makes it better?

I'm really not sure.  I've not worked with other apps for multicam.  Perhaps this:

If two or more clips are already selected, the right-click | Create Multicam Source Sequence works as is.

If no clips are selected, right click in blank brings up Create Multicam Source Sequence presents a view of all clips in the project (either list or tiles) and allows one to choose two or more, preferably with checkboxes, since it's kind of hard to see what is selected with the gray surrounds that are presently default.

Also add "New Multicam Sequence" to the list of "new" items, so that a blank multicam source sequence can be created for manual entry and syncing.

Now you got me imagining....this might be more intuitive.

1. "Create new Multicam source sequence," always available on right click, creates a blank multicam sequence and displays it on the timeline.

2. Manually add clips from any bin on different tracks in the sequence (setting the Cam 1-2-3 assignments).

3. A "Sync" command brings up the multicam dialog that would then do the analysis to align the clips on the separate tracks.

I like the blank multicam sequence idea, that can be very useful in certain workflows.  Thanks for your ideas.
