Discuss: Transparency fo GIF export

With the latest Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta) and Media Encoder (Beta) builds we have enabled the support for exporting GIFs with transparency. What does this mean for you? You now have 3 transparency options to choose from:

  • None. No transparency.
  • Dithered. This creates a pattern of transparent pixels to simulate the full range of alpha values.
  • Hard Edges. This creates transparency based on a 50% alpha threshold.

To use this feature:

1. Select File > Export > Media, then select either Animated GIF or GIF in the format drop down menu option.

2. Next, scroll down to video and select the transparency menu option you wish to choose

3. Last, select export. Your file will be saved to whichever location you had specified.

Please see attached screenshot. This feature is enabled in Adobe Premiere Pro Beta and Adobe Media Encoder Beta.
