I can't seem to modify the file enough to fix it...

The position information is present in premiere beta, when importing an .srt file which uses {\an8} for top center position. But the character "}" is grouped with the actual caption text.
for example:
Text from srt:
2
00:02:37,120 --> 00:02:39,760
{\an8} In the mid 19th century,

Text on screen in premiere:
} In the mid 19th century,

Thank you for reporting! It seems we also had an issue with postion information in the old Captions, as well (14.9 and earlier). I have logged this for our Devs to investigate.

I also have not been able to find a workaround, other than manually deleting { in the Text panel (which I realize is not very fesaible)

Trent, luckily you all had put a find and replace feature in there, so... it wasn't as much of a pita as it could have been, I jsut had to find "}" and replace with "". Still a bug.
