I have a MacBook Pro 15" RAM 16 GB, Nvidia 750m 2 GB, but unfortunately when I turn on Renderer "Metal" full HD video (1080i) playback goes with interruptions, as if strobing, absolutely not smoothly with drop frames. At the same time, the iStat program shows the full load of the video processor and memory of the video card. At the same time, Davinci Resolve and FCPX play everything very smoothly, the processor and memory of the video card are half loaded. If I switch to soft Renderer in Premiere, the video card is not used at all, even for decoding the source video, but the CPU loads up to 70%. I only work with ProRes and DVCPROHD, very rarely with h. 264.
