Every time I hit play on my timeline the video and audio glitch, jumping around and eventually level out. At times I'm not even able to hit play. Nothing happens and playback simply doesnt work. I am able to click around in the program but playback does not work at all. For the record this just started happening today.

did you update your GPU to the latest 'studio' drivers?
did you try to reset the preferences?
what if you try playing back local drive footage ?

Hey Carlos,
So it was working smoothly last night, but this morning I rebooted my machine and the issue is back. Again, its the firs moment I hit play it studders and glitches (both audio and video) then levels out after a few seconds. Along with everything else I have also tried:
Driving me up a wall. Thanks for your help.

UPDATE:
Looks like I had an out of date BRAW plugin that could have been causing the issue (even though I am not working with BRAW footage). Once I updated the issue decreased, but I am still getting "audio and video clock out of sync." Any clue why this would be happening?

UPDATE 2:
Nevermind. The issue is back. Still no solution.

UPDATE 3:
Issue persists. I just put a transitrion effect on a couple clips (less than 1 sec each) and the program is grinding to a hault when I try to play. Now trying to save the project and it will not complete the process, though it will let me cancel (not frozen). Then when I clicked cancel and tried to click in the program it crashed.
I have no background programs running but a few chrome windows.

UPDATE 4:.
Same issues persisting. I also seem to be getting a lot of "audio and video clock out of sync" on another project. I am using both BMPCC6k foorage and Arri footage (both Prores 422, 23.976). Havent beena ble to find any fixes for this.

Beta is what it is: testing new features and finding bugs.
Quote: do not use a beta version of Premiere Pro for critical production work.
If the beta gets glitchy, I downgrade to 2024.
Now we are on 2025 is a bit more work to downgrade.
But Carlos advice might do the trick.

Thank you so much. I didn't update the studio driver. Once I did that and restarted my computer it ran smoothly.

Looks like this is related to a known issue:
try to go to Preferences => Audio Hardware => Default Input => No Input
