caption exports wrong track .srt

Community Beginner ,
May 16, 2025 May 16, 2025

In the past week or two, when I try to export captions, even though I've hidden the track(s) I don't want, only the top track seems to want to export.

My workaround is to duplicate the sequence and delete the other tracks. Then I can get an .srt file of the language I need.

Version 25.2.3 (Build 4)

Mac OS Sequoia 15.5

Hi @Storying,

I'm sorry to hear the captions aren't exporting as expected.  I'm glad you have a workaround so you can at least keep working.  Did this happen with the 25.2.3 update?  Can you tell me more about your workflow?  How many caption tracks do you have, and how are you exporting them?  Were the captions generated by Premiere or imported from an external file?

Sorry for the frustration and thanks for reaching out.

We typically only have two tracks of captions copied and pasted from a script sent by overseas translators (one is the new language and the other a matching English back translation).

I'm using version 25.2.3 as of 8 days ago.

The newer version of PR allows multiple caption tracks to be visible at once. This was part of the translation option.

Don't ask me why, but my experiments suggest that you need to select ONE caption in the timeline of the track for which you want to export a sidecar.

Let us know. I'm still playing with this.

Agreed. Since noticing that multiple captions at once were allowed I did an experiement but could only export one .srt as a sidecar file. Another experim in the burn-in option did work as expected (sometimes it's needed to explain something to partners during collaboration work).
