Captions Issues Since 2023 Update

Greetings,

Issues have occured on 2 different laptop PCs: Dell XPS, Windows 10 + MSI Pulse GL66, Windows 11.

Since updating to Premiere Pro 2023 (23.0.0), I have been having inconsistent issues with captions editing in the Captions and Graphics editing window.

Firstly, when editing captions in the transcript, while the "split" and "merge" buttons are lit, they will do nothing upon clicking. To get around this, I have had to edit the block in the captions track later on. (NOTE: after typing this, I went back to get screenshots, and the split button started functioning properly, then momentarily, it stopped working yet again. So this seems to be an inconsistent issue)

Additionally to point one, just today, when clicking the split button, it actually split into three segments rather than two, several times in the same session.

Secondly and more frustrating to myself, I have had issues where I have clicked "create captions" and the program shows the loading bar, but "freezes" and shows 0 progress (see screenshot). I have been able to click to the Graphics tab, and back again, and it resets, at which point I go back to transcript, and "create captions" again, and then it works properly.

I usually only edit short Reels for social media, but this issues occurs about 75% of the time.

Both issues able to be worked around, just nuisances that consume time.

Thank you.
