Changing font settings when selecting asset in Properties panel doesn't work unless you highlight

Contributor ,

Presently in Premiere 25.1 using the new Properties panel you can no longer consistently click on the text asset, then with that asset selected change the font size, font color, etc. This worked as expected in previous versions before the Properties panel.

You now have to highlight the text you want to change.

I was able to get it to work occassionally but not consistently, sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't!

However, like in almost every other design application, I should be able to select the layer and make those changes to everything in that layer. It used to work but now it doesn't in 25.1.

That whole "context aware" design thing is frustrating at times, because it is totally based on what is currently selected.

That's just the way it works now.

This isn't so much about being context aware, I think that in moving things to the Properties panel some stuff just got broken along the way. I'm still selecting the text asset in the Properties panel, so it is highlighted, the panel is active, and that asset is selected as a whole. With that asset selected you should then be able to control the entire asset, font size, color, etc. as this worked previously in 24.6.4 and earlier. It just doesn't work consistently now, and sometimes no matter how much I click around I can't get it to work at all.

And yeah, this new "redesign" thing is a complete mess, the program looks awful, the cute colors and the rounded edges have made editing an unpleasant experience and makes things overall harder, and there's a heavy dose of growing pains as things get moved around all over the place.

Ah, so in your case, it's a matter of changing focus, or losing focus? That would be irritating. Extremely.

Well I was going to make you a whole video explaining what is happening but now I can't reproduce it so let me work for a while today and see if I can come up with the exact steps to reproduce it. Literally jumped in to make this for you and it's working as both intended and expected right now.

@BrianLevin,

I hate it when that happens. Intermittent problems or ones that only happen after significant periods of time are the hardest to troubleshoot.

Like Stan says ... intermittent issues ... hate those suckers.

Just as real, but a ton harder to get replication for.
