FILM IMPACT settings error in Premiere pro 25.6.1

Contributor ,
Nov 18, 2025 Nov 18, 2025

Hello everyone,
when I installed the new 25.6.1 Pp on a fresh Windows 10 system (without traces of the previous premiere 25.5), I get the following error warning "film impact settins erorr" . This happens when I open projects from the 25.5 series (in 25.6.1)....some idea...thanks...all the earlier projects are version 25.5 and worked great...but when I open them in 25.6.1 I get that error...

@STUDIO29K These errors are annoying and are cosmetic: they do not stop the effects and transitions from playing correctly.

This issue will be fixed in v26 of Premiere, which will be released early in 2026.

Regards,

Fergus

Dear Adobe,
this is already the third upgrade (25.6.3 ) since version 25.5 how this error appears to you...whether it is cosmetic or your inability to fix it I don't know, but it is very annoying...like every day you get into your car and you are greeted by a yellow curtain when you open the door...please fix this...thanks...

The same issue is happening for me. Literally BRAND NEW computer, latest edition of Premiere Pro, giving me identical errors to the ones you're getting. It would be nice to get some actual help on this...

so the solution to not being able to export my projects is to wait until next year? i don't want to be rude, but that is ridiculous. there has to be some other troubleshooting solution.

@balanced_hearted8760 My apologies: the error that @STUDIO29K posted at the top of this thread is one that we believe to be cosmetic - it should not have any impact on playback or export of projects. If you're seeing something different, could you provide some more information on the error and what is not working?

Regards,

Fergus

Hi @Fergus H, we are seeing this issue with macOS 15.7.2 devices. When a project is opened or created, if a user were to try and export the project, nothing happens. The class where this was brought up mentioned it all started to happen once the computers updated to 15.7.2. The Film Impact settings error also appears with these computers.

Current workaround has been to send the project to Media Encoder.

Yes, I am having lots of issues. I have a brand new iMac and Premiere Pro is giving me nothing but trouble. I am having the same problem as @STUDIO29K with the numerous Film Impact Setting Errors, and when clicking for more details, it says Plugin Intercommunication fail. I don't have any plugins on this computer because it is new. Additionally, when I click on any of the buttons in the top left corner of the program (Home Button, Import, Edit, & Export) nothing happens, and it will stay on one without responding to clicking on the others. I am unable to export any videos due to this (The keyboard shortcuts do not let me export anything either... Nothing happens.) And finally, when I try to click on any of the features at the very top (Such as File, Edit, Clip, Sequence, etc.. All of the options are completely gray (unclickable). I know that is a lot of information, but this new computer was very expensive and I'm frustrated and worried that it immediately is working far worse than my small laptop. I would appreciate any assistance that can provided for this. I'm happy to offer any more information, thank you.

HI @balanced_hearted8760 @Nicholas37980301jfij - I believe the issue you’re seeing is tied to a different bug that we’re actively working to fix. In the meantime, closing the Adobe Stock panel before opening your project should prevent the problem.

I agree @balanced_hearted8760 ...let them make version 25.6.4 for us, which would correct the popping of the yellow error (film impact)... and version 26.xx .. hmmm...there will still be posts, ha,ha...Adobe, it's really boring to look at your COSMETIC error every hour, day, fix it please, and until version 26.xx comes out, it may be a long time....
best regards

Hi, thank you for that suggestion but it did nothing to solve my problem. Anything else I can do besides wait for the update? One of my jobs requires videos every week and I literally cannot export any of them, I can't just wait until the v26 version comes out next year @jamieclarke @Fergus H

Film Impact plugins intercommunication failed

Somehow while working, the film impacts effects stopped working.
Unlike what other posts say, this is not cosmetic, and it actually has stopped working.

I am not using any third party plugins.

My specs are Ryzen 7 9800x3D, Rtx 5080, 32gb ddr5 ram, Im running on latest win11 and my premiere pro version is 25.6.3

Can you drag and drop instead?

Silly question, but I have to ask:

Did you try restarting the computer?

Getting this to reproduce reliably in-house has been elusive, but we've seen it, and there's a fix forthcoming in the next release (v26).  In the meantime, we've noticed that *sometimes* quitting and re-launching Premiere can get past the error, which is caused by a race condition.  We also saw that sometimes a project (usually a larger, effects-heavy project) can become especially persistent at triggering this.  Starting with a fresh, smaller/empty project sometimes gets past the cascade of errors, then opening the larger, more developed project would work again.  There is indeed a 'cosmetic' version of this issue where you'll see the errors and the effects will still work, and that's also fixed in the next release, but that's not what you're hitting, of course.  I'm sorry I don't know of a simple workaround that's known to be effective in every case.  Please let us know if you find a workaround that gets your project/plugins loading correctly for you.

We did have one internal user who encountered a functional failure similar to this, but then the issue went away after re-installing the application and never came back.  So if you want to try re-installing PPRO, that *might* fix it for you.

Re-installation didnt fix it. But I did open a new project and tried to use the exact same film impact effect. and while it says theres an error, its working fine here. But the effect in the original project still isnt working as intended. So theres that.
I guess this will have to do for now. I really love using Prem Pro but yall have got to stop breaking on thing or the other with every update...... waiting for v26.

I don't understand why is fixing this simple bug taking so long. I just installed the original package from FilmImpact (the latest available version) and THERE IS NOT ISSUES like this. They just work. Why keep the users wait for the major software update to fix such a minor issue? We work everyday, you know, we need the plugins dayly.

And what about that render error which comes with a program monitor overlay saying the renderer caused an error please contact FilmImpact for support? (unfortunately I didn't make a screenshot of this disgrace). It happened in a Freshly installed Premiere pro with no third party plugins.

C'mon guys, issue a fix already.
