Import/playback lag

Howdy,

I notice that when I import my footage into Premiere Pro, there is playback lag between the audio-video. When I export this video, my exported file has this laggy playback as well. My original footage has none of this lag.

I am attempting to export 4 AVCHD (.MTS) files into a singular MOV file and a separate singular MP4 file.

Here are my specs and a bulleted list of things i've tried.

OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise
System Model Precision 5680

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700H 2.40 GHz

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB
NVIDIA RTX 2000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU
Seagate BUP BK SCSI 4TB Hard Drive

  • Clearing media cache
  • Rendering the whole video using in and out points
  • Rendering and replacing clips
  • Turned off high-quality playback
  • Muted global effects
  • Resetted sequence settings
  • Optimized rendering preferences have been maxed out, leaving premiere pro with plenty of ram
  • Creating & Using proxy files
  • Lowering preview resolution
  • Changing "renderer", under Video Rendering and Playback, to Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA)
  • Close Lumetri Scopes
  • Closing all other applications
  • Restarting PC
  • Checking for Updates
  • Importing my file into Premiere Pro in different ways

Hello @anthony_8402,

Thanks for the bug report. Nice job. I think AVCHD support might be an issue.

Have you considered transcoding these files to an editing codec prior to starting your editing session? It's worth doing in many cases with files like this.

Are you running 24.6? Does rolling back to 24.5 solve the issue?

I hope the team can provide a better solution, though. Sorry for the problem.

Thanks,
Kevin

Morning Kevin, I greatly appreciate your insight and advice.

After reflecting my imported footage with my original footage, I'm beginning to notice that the playback lag happens on different files/clips. For instance, with an AVCHD sequence my first and third files/clips are perfect. However, my second and fourth files/clips are out of snyc.

Taking your advice, I transcoded the AVCHD files to .MOV files. Unfortunatley, these suffer the same playback lag aswell just at different files/clips.

Interestingly, rolling back to 24.5 did not fully solve the playback lag, but certainly improved it. The playback lag is much more subtle and near perfect.

I currently have a customer service case (Case ID: E-001356468) and am awaiting help from an engineer. However, if you have anymore ideas i'm willing to apply them. I greatly appreciate your time and help.
