Premiere panels freezing after creating 5 assets in project panel

I have recently encountered a glitch when creating/importing assets into Premiere. The program will allow me to add up to 4 unique items into the project panel (files, bins, sequences, etc.), but as soon as I add a 5th, all of the panels except for the project panel freeze. I can get the display to "update" if I select a drop-down menu from the top, but the panels remain frozen and unresponsive. Deleting the 5th item in the project panel immediately resolves the issue and Premiere goes back to behaving like normal.

I first noticed this when working on a small, simple project. I thought it had something to do with the specific files I was importing, but upon further investigation, I discovered I could replicate the problem every time in a new project, no matter what the assets were. I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere multiple times. I even went to so far as to reset my laptop and diligently ensured that everything to my knowledge was up to date (updates, drivers, Microsoft Visual C++ Libraries, etc.). Nothing has worked. I am using the most recent version of Premiere - no plug-ins or add-ons.

I have included two videos below demonstrating the problem - one using my original import files when I discovered the problem, and one using simple assets that can be created directly in Premiere.

After digging and experimenting even more, I found this video documenting a problem similar to mine, and demonstrating a potential workaround:

https://youtu.be/JUkvXizSgdU?si=PPitL8Rwpy7zlxww

This workaround did work for me. By opening the dropdown menu in the Project Panel and selecting Preview Area, it did magically unlock all of my frozen panels. I have no idea why this works, and it is NOT a permanent solutions any means, but I can at least continue using the program for now. Adobe, this issue needs to be addressed ASAP. It is a program-breaking glitch.
