Premiere Pro 2024 v24.2.1 will not currently "see" any video files stored in my Documents/Videos folder - even though Premiere Rush can see and import these without a problem.

App has been closed and restarted, as has my computer.

Running Windows 10 22H2 on a Dell Optiplex 7000

A fix desparately needed thanks!

Do you have OneDrive or say Dropbox active? And do they have coverage of those folders?

Hi,

Yes I also use OneDrive but if I 'ask' Premiere Pro to look there it uploads every single video file from OneDrive to my computer and I don't have enough storage for that.....

OneDrive is indeed active, however PremPro then decides to upoad every single video file from there onto my local hard drive which isn't big enough so everything stalls.  I need to upload individual files only and then work on them..... 😞

OneDrive, DropBox and other similar file syncing apps do constant file checking and put tags in file headers. Both to let themselves know the last time the file was backed up to the Cloud, and if anything has changed with the file since.

Most NLEs get befuddled by file header changes ... they can't read them, they just know something is different. And we get bonkers weirdities.

For that reason, most of us "peers" here don't recommend actually using files in Premiere that are in synced folders. Though it is possible to do, and some users get away with it without troubles, it is likely that eventually this will bite your backside.

I don't like doing things that are gonna bite back at some point, just as a personal preference.

Those services have both free and fairly low cost options, which is cool. But my partner in Cape Town and I left them for LucicLink's amazing capabilities some years back. It's not free, but ... our files and even Productions can live on servers out there (ours are London Amazon S3) ... and we work directly from them on our computers.

He's Mac, outta Cape Town, we're PC, in Oregon. With good internet, the files appear on a 'virtual drive' on our rigs though they aren't actually on our rigs, it's like an external but very high-speed drive. And it just ... works.

We had a number of issues with both DropBox and We Transfer.
