Premiere Pro 2025 closed captioning not compressing

Community Beginner ,

I recently upgraded from Premiere Pro 2020 to 2025. I deal a LOT with closed captioning AND time compressing. After trying to compress a sequence with a caption track (in 2025), the captioning is NOT adjusting the same as the video/audio. This worked flawlessly in my Premiere Pro 2020 during the export.

I know that 2025 now has a totally separate C track for closed captioning (as opposed to captioning in 2020 simply used a video track). Is there something else that needs to be done with Premiere Pro in order to get the CC track to compress properly with the rest of the sequence's video/audio?

Hi @mfranch875C16,

Sorry for the frustration, could you clarify a little what you mean by 'compression'? Are you speeding up your video and wanting to speed up the captions as well so they match? Were the captions made before or after the speed change and is this your last step before export?

Hope we can help you soon,

Dani

@mfranch875C16,

I assume you are talking about the Time Tuner effect in export settings?

See this post from an earlier version:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/closed-caption-is-out-of-sync-when-apply-tim...

I am now on PR release 25.3.0, and have not tried this. I assume there is no change.

Stan

Yes, sorry. I should have said "time tuner". I looked at that previous post about it and essentially the same issue.

basically time tuner won't adjust the .scc sidecar file to match the video/audio.

also sounds like it's a known issue and hasn't been resolved

Got it @mfranch875C16, thank you. What exact version of 2025 are you on, and is this a regular project or a Teams/Production project?
