Premiere Pro 25.5.0 – Input Tone Mapping resets to Hue Preservation after reopening project

New Here ,

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue in Premiere Pro 25.5.0 and wondering if others have experienced the same.

My footage is shot in S-Log3, S-Gamut3.Cine. Sequence is Rec.709 (SDR).
For each clip, I manually set Sequence Clip → Input Tone Mapping to By Channel.

However, after saving, closing, and reopening the project, some clips automatically revert back to the default Hue Preservation setting. It’s inconsistent – some clips keep the setting, others switch back.

  • Has anyone else seen this behavior?
  • Any known workarounds to keep the Input Tone Mapping stable?

Thanks,
Richard (richardk46685728)

Hi @richardk46685728

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and thank you for reporting a problem. A few more details we could use to help: What are your hardware specs? Where is the project and media saved? Have you seen this with other projects or is it project-specific?

You mentioned only some clips revert back, are there any other effects or adjustments on the clips?

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani

Many items in the full color management setup are interactive ... so please, it would be useful to nail this down if you gave the full CM settings you are using ....

Screengrabs of the entire "twirled open" Lumetri Settings tab would be so useful, even if just to try and replicate the problem.

Everything from the Project down through Sequence and Clip, please!  And thank you ...

It happened to me with 3 different projects. Project and media are saved on Local Server, that is the case for one of the projects. Other 2 projects and media are saved on NAS storage.

The input tone mapping settings changes only on the clips, which I set from default Hue Perservation to By channel. (Reverts to default option. After I manually override media color space to S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine.)

On clips, only the lumetri color effect is applied.
