Though many iterations of PP, it always happens that when I have the occasional crash of the software, I forget that I should refuse Premiere's friendly request to try and restore the project I was working on during the crash. Because if I make the fatal error of agreeing to let Premiere do what seems perfectly natural, to restore the project to where I was, it invariably restores the project back to some time near when I started it. So that there are like a few edits at the beginning of the timeline AND DAYS AND DAYS OF WORK HAVE DISAPPEARED, EVEN THOUGH I SAVE THE PROJECT RELIGIOUSLY!
So, I try to calm my racing heart and select some backups from around the time the crash happened, go back hour after hour, AND THEY ALL ARE BACK FROM NEAR WHEN I STARTED THE PROJECT! In fact, typing this out, it seems that they all go back to when I first saved the project. Sometimes when this has happened I try to do Time Machine backups to restore the project file. I sweat as I try to restore all of my work. And then I remember to just reload the project with the original name outside of the backup folders, and voila, days of work restored. So now, after a crash, when Premiere asks if it can raise my blood pressure to astronomic levels by restoring my "last saved project" to some early editing point, I tell it to pound sand, click no, load my project and continue on my merry way from the last edit, and thank Premiere for a stress test that would make a 30 min run on a doctor's treadmill seem like a stroll through the park. In short, Abode, please have Premiere restore a project to as it actually was after my last save, and save me money on Aspirin pills to prevent a stroke.
