Program Monitor Panel closes

My computer was recently updated to Windows 11. I'm running Premiere Pro 23.5.0 (Build 56). CC says I'm up to date.

Recently when I go to Export, name my file, and click "Send to Media Encoder", when I go back to Premiere to continue to edit, the Program Monitor Panel is gone. It comes back when I reset the workspace. (It does this in multiple Workspaces.) However, if I'm exporting a number of spots, it's super annoying! If I export without going through Media Encoder, it does NOT close. If I click File->Export->Send to Adobe Media Encoder, it does NOT close. I've been using Ctrl+M for years. That's going to be a hard habit to break if we can't figure this out.

One thing to note, my Program Monitor Panel is on my second screen. It's the only panel on that screen. I'm not sure if that matters, but I thought I would add the info.

This started happening suddenly a couple of weeks ago. I don't believe it was immediately after the Windows 11 update, but I can't swear to it.

I closed Beta and went back to Real Premiere. Instead of starting with the Editing Workspace, I started with Essentials and move panels around the way I like them, and then saved my own workspace. I went to export and clicked "Send to Media Encoder" and the Program Monitor Panel did not close. I do not have Lumetri scopes open. Let me go try that...

I opened Scopes and docked it with the Program Monitor as I had before. It did not close when I clicked "Send to Media Encoder". Hmm.

Does it close in your preferred workflow if the monitor is a panel on your main screen?

You can change the shortcut ctrl+m to Send to media encoder if you want.

It does not. That's interesting. I tried in one of the preset projects and docked it in one of my custom projects. It did not close in either.

Okay, I tried expanding the Premiere Pro window across both monitors. When I "Send to Media Encoder" in this workspace, it does not close the program monitor panel. It's kinda awkward looking and functioning. I can't maximize the window or it reverts to one monitor. I had to make the screen grab small, but you can see under the program monitor panel, my desktop is visible. If I drag the window down, I don't have access to the timeline controls at the bottom of that panel. I would really like this to work like it did a few weeks ago before it changed.screen grab adobe.png

I tried this. I opened the default EDITING workspace, I dragged the Program monitor onto my second monitor. I clicked back on the timeline and ctrl-m, I <Send to Media Encoder>, I tried completing the export, and then part way into the export and clicked back on PP and the Program Monitor was still visible on the 2nd monitor. That being alone on the 2nd monitor. Am I missing a step in trying this, as things seem normal here.

When I've done it, the only item on my second monitor is the program monitor. So, maybe it's the language you are using, but being 'gone' makes me think you have to go looking for it. Whereas if you had said, <as I click "Send to Media Encoder"> IT CLOSES, ie: you see it close. Is it visible when you ctrl-m, and then send to media encoder and watch it close?

Okay, when I click Ctrl+M, the Export dialog tab opens. When this happens, the Program monitor minimizes. I can't see it. If I click back to the edit tab, it comes back. I can click back and forth between the Edit and Export tabs and it minimizes and maximizes with each click. If I click 'Send to Media Encoder", the Export tab closes and the Edit tab appears. The Program Monitor is not there at that point. I have to reset the workspace to get it to come back.

<<Okay, when I click Ctrl+M>>

Sorry to be a nit-picker, but I thought the idea was that you still wanted to keyboard (press) Ctrl+M. That's still the case, right?

I can't get it to happen. I tried a bunch of things according to your comments, having started with the default Editing workspace, and putting the Program monitor (the main one inside PP right?), undocked and standing alone on my seconds monitor. I only have PP running, so I see the monitor all the time. I couldn't get it to change anything with the Program monitor. I couldn't get it to minimaize. What happens again, if you run the default Editing workspace. Select it, then, double click or select to run the unchanged version. Drag your Program monitor to the 2nd screen and what results?

I tried the Editing Workspace. I tried a number of workspaces. It doesn't matter if I click Ctrl+M or go File->Export->Media. Once I'm in the export tab, I can click back to edit and see the Program Monitor on the left monitor. Once I click "Send to Media Encoder" it is no longer there. This is my standard workspace:

Well, I could finally get it to disappear when selecting "Export", by having either the main PP interface ever so slightly, even by a pixel, on the 2nd monitor. Or similarly, having the program monitor window, ever so slightly extending onto the Main PP monitor. In all cases, the monitor window came back when coming back to the Edit tab, from the Export tab.

I also tried these with the Lumetri Scopes on a second tab with the program monitor as per your workspace picture. It does look like your monitors may have a small overlap onto the others display.

I see the monitor until I click "Send to Media Encoder". At that point, the program monitor panel closes, as if I clicked the red X in the top right corner.

Also, out of curiosity, I switched the screens, moving my main premiere pro screen to my secondary monitor and the program monitor panel to my main screen. When I clicked "Send to Media Encoder", the program monitor panel closed, just like in the other configuration.

I have Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta) installed. I opened a project in it. When I click "Send to Media Encoder" in Beta, the Program Monitor does not close.

Okay, here's the twist: I was in the editing workspace when it worked. I thought, well, I set this up the way I like to work and save the workspace. I opened Lumetri Scope and Lumetri Color and rearranged the panels. I saved my workspace. When I went to export and clicked "Send to Media Encoder", the program panel closed...like I had clicked the red X.

OK, but I'm still guessing you had a pixel or two overlap of either the main window onot the 2nd monitor or from the looks of your screen shots (the red  x is slightly cut off) and I'm guessing you had a pixel overlapping onto the main monitor.

thank you, you wonderful people.
Last week, my company took away my MacBook Pro and put me back on a PC laptop and i started having this (among other problems) and they are all quite annoying, but this was the worst. Holly's solution of going thru Essentials and saving a new Workspace Layout took care of THIS problem. Now onto other annoyances.
THANKS AGAIN!

I'm glad I could help! It was super annoying. It took me a while to find the solution. I will occasionally have an issue with it closing, but I'll switch to a backup workspace and it's okay.
