Rendering full but video stops halfway

I created the file a few weeks ago, and everything was working perfectly. The rendering went smoothly, and the video of 25 seconds played in full. However, today it suddenly posed a problem with that same project file.

I've ensured there is enough disk space and tried using both local and external drives. I've repeatedly rendered the workspace and the full sequence, but the problem persists.

The rendered video does not play in full.

It is the same problem in both in the "normal" and beta version.

What triggers this sudden problem?

Make new project and import old one: see how that goes.

if not

Please post comp specs, Premiere version and build.
Also screenshots of MediaInfo info in Treeview on footage used, sequence settings

Hi Ann

Same problem. Tried it before. Problems started today.
Beta: 24.6.0.015 (2024-06-04) build 14
Normal: 25.9

Tried again to export (Beta version) and saved the mp4 clip in another local folder than the one containing the project files. This time it played the full length. I've tried this earlier and didn't work. This isn't okay. The clip should work correctly within the project folder, right?

Hi Kevin-Monahan

First of all I'm a very satisfied user and created many videos without any problems.

Here's my bug report.

Issue

  1. The rendered vertical video is 25:06 seconds long. It rendered fully.
  2. That video only plays halfway and then the video stops even though the correct duration is displayed. The music continues to play.
  3. I rendered the same timeline many times also using markers.
  4. Stopped other software I was using on my Mac.
  5. Cleared the memory but made no difference.
  6. Saved in default folder and on my NAS: same problem.
  7. Save it locally elsewhere: the video plays in full.
  8. The issue occurs using both Premiere Pro versions.

Software Versions
Beta : 24.6.0.015 (2024-06-04) build 14
Standard : 25.9

OS
Mac Sonoma 14.5 (23F79)

System info
2,3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
HD 1 TB, free 545 GB

Video format
I only used an image (jpg, vertical, same as output), text and music (mp3). So no footage is involved.

Output is 1080 x 1920 (vertical).

Workflow details

  1. Created the timeline as usual.
  2. Added an image, text and a mp3.
  3. Used no filters.
  4. Rendered it both via Premiere Pro (export entire source) and Media Encoder.
  5. Used the default save location: problem occurs.
  6. Used the NAS: problem occurs.
  7. In this case the file is mostly 7.3 MB, sometimes 8.1 MB. Not larger.
  8. Saved it locally outside the default folder.
  9. The file is now 14.2 MB.
  10. No problem.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a timeline
  2. Insert a vertical image (jpg, 1080x1920)
  3. Add text
  4. Add music (mp3)
  5. Export via Premiere Pro itself (entire source).
  6. Save it locally in the default folder.
  7. Play the video.
  8. Export to Media Encoder.
  9. Save it locally in the default folder.
  10. Play the video.
  11. Save it on a NAS.
  12. Play the video.
  13. Save it elsewhere locally.
  14. Play the video.

Expected result

The rendered video clip plays correct in full as created.

Actual result

  • The video is saved in the default folder (7.3 MB)
  • The video does not play fully except for the music.
  • The video is saved on my NAS.
  • The video does not play fully except for the music.
  • The video saved elsewhere locally (14.2 MB).
  • The video plays fully as expected.

I hope this info is what you needed. Looking forwar

Kind regards

Karel
