  • Issue - Media is not able to be dragged from the media bin into a timeline and the keyboard is unresponsive for all commands. This does not happen 100% of the time but it has happened regularly for months.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: 23.2.0 (Build 69)
  • Operating system - macOS Ventura 13.2.1
  • System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
    • Apple M1

    • GPU Apple M1, 8 core, Metal 3

    • RAM 16GB

    • Hard Drive 1TB SSD

    • Keyboard: wired Apple USB keyboard model A1243
  • Video format: The problem has happened over multiple projects with various formats.
    .mov 3840x2160 h.264
    .mov 1920x1080 ProRes 422
    .mxf 1920x1080
  • Workflow details: This often happens when I am opening an existing project. It seems more likely to happen if I am currently exporting a video using media encoder (regardless of whether the project is the same or different to what is being exported). Often the problem is resolved if I close the application and reopen. If I am currently exporting with Media Encoder though the problem is sometimes not resolved until the export finishes.
  • Steps to reproduce
    1. Have existing project with assests in a timeline (HD or ultra HD), open the project while a different project is being exported from Media Encoder.
  • Expected result - Project opens as usual, the keyboard functions to control keyboard shortcuts, and the media can be dragged from the media bin to the timeline.
  • Actual result -  The project opens but the keyboard doesn't function at all and the media cannot be dragged to the timeline.

Hey, it sounds bad

I try to reproduce this issue on the same configuration not able to reproduce it.

Is it necessary when opening an exciting project in premiere Pro at the same time the Media Encoder opens and encoding is in progress?

Try this:

Clear Media Cache files. Clear the Preferences. let us know if its work.

Thanks,

Suraj Shinde

I cleared the cache and preferences and tried again while media encoder was exporting but with the same result. The issue has been consistant whether I am exporting from an external SSD or the internal SSD.

Another consistant feature of all the timelines is that they all utilize .mogrt templates and typically have some Lumetri Color adjustments on a single adjustment layer or applied to a specific clip.

The problem began late last year with the previous version of Premiere Pro and MacOS Mojave and has continued with the newest updates and MacOS Ventura.

I am usually working on projects for several different clients throughout the day so I will export one and move onto the next before while the first one is still exporting in Media Encoder.
