Video frozen after export

My exported video is frozen.  The motion graphics, audio, and time of video play correctly, but each video clip is frozen even though they switch to each video clip at the appropriate time.

I exported a project initially and it worked fine.  I returned to the project to update some text on a motion graphic and every video on the exported version was frozen.  I tried exporting multiple times, but was unsuccessful.

I edit short 10-15 seconds clips using the same export setting each time and approximately every 3rd time that I attempt to export a clip, it is frozen on the exported version.

These issues did not occur previous to the latest update.

I am exporting using match source-high adaptive bitrate, H.264, render at maximum depth, use maximum render quality, lumetri color grade applied to the clip, software encoding, VBR pass 2, target bitrate 48, maximum bitrate 60.

The fact that it only occurs periodically leads me to believe it is a software issue.

Hi,

Thanks for filing this bug report. It is very much appreciated! Any information you can provide about your computer system and media might be helpful. See, How do I write a bug report?

I hope the team, an Adobe Expert, or a community member can help you solve this issue.

One test you can try is to upload the video. Is it playing back normally on, say, YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive? Let the community know.

Thanks,
Kevin

HI,

The system I am running is an MSI Laptop. 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13950HX 2.20 GHz. 64GB RAM.  12GB RAM reserved for other applications.  52GB RAM available for Adobe programs. Windows 11 Home.  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060  Graphics Card.

The media that I am editing is DJI Drone Video footage-4K/30fps, D-Cinelike color profile in H.264 Codec and 4K/60fps, D-Log M color profile in H.264 Codec.  This was on separate projects that did not intermix the above mentioned footage/framerates that both had the same freezing issue.

The video does not playback on any other media players or Google drive, youtube, etc.  If I close the program and restart a new project using the same footage, it usually resolves the issue.  My concern is that I will work on a lengthy project that exports, but when I go back to modify the edit it will not render properly and will freeze.  This will require me to restart the entire project.

Exporting at max render and max depth is very machine demanding. try vbr1 with hardware encoding.

Might want to consider using proxies or convert source footage to a more edit friendly format.

I use proxies on my projects including the one I am currently having issues with.

I attempted to render at VBR 1 with hardware encoding and dropped the bitrate as low as 10mbps and output resolution down to 1080.  I also tried removing all motion graphics from the project timeline and exporting at VBR 1 and still unsuccessful.  I also sent the project to media encoder to determine if that may work, but unsuccessful.

When I render and replace each clip on my timeline, the rendered clip on my timeline is also frozen during attempts to playback.  My last resort is to restart the project for my client and hope that I don't encounter the same issue.

I have resolved the problem!

I was storing my native files on an external hard drive (HD not SSD).  I moved my native files to my laptop SSD to export the project and the problem was resolved!  Time to buy a SSD external Hard Drive!
