AAF files grayed out in import window on Apple M1 systems

If you're running Adobe Premiere Pro (even the latest 2022 version), on an Apple M1 system, and trying to import an Avid AAF, you'll find that if you do drag and drop, you get the "File type not supported" error. And if you right-click and select Import, in the import window AAF files are grayed out.

Workaround it to quit Prem Pro. Do Get Info on the app in the Applications folder, and in the Info window for the Premiere Pro App, select 'Open using Rosetta'.

Now AAF import works. After import, you can run Premiere Pro native, till you need to export AAF. Then again run it under Rosetta.

AAF import/export is not yet supported natively on Premiere Pro on Apple M1 systems.

DaVinci Resolve, supports importing AAFs on Apple M1 systems.

Thanks for sharing the feedback & sorry about the poor experience. Currently, there are a few limitations with Premiere Pro running on Apple M1 devices. AAF import and export is one of them. You may refer to this link to know more about the differences & limitations. For the time being, the workaround is to run the app in Rosetta mode.
