Adding speed, scale, and position effects on same clip

Hi,

I've been trying to use the speed ramp tool on a clip and also position and scale it to be where I need it to be in the frame. 
Every time I try to add scale and position keyframes in addition to the using speed ramping strange things start to happen. Is there a way to layer effects and use multiple keyframes for different attributes? 

Also, sometimes when I have multiple keyframes, if I edit one later in the timeline it doesn't change anything where I placed it but it changes things earlier in the clip...not even at a keyframe. This makes no sense to me. Then, if I 'remove attributes' sometimes my entire clip just disappears.

I'm not sure if it's all related somehow or if they're seperate issues. Any help is appreciated!

Apply either the scale/position changes and nest the clip, or the time ramp changes and nest the clip.

To nest a clip, right click on the clip, then select "nest".

But...aren't you losing quality? Nesting a clip doesn't mean you're blocking all the properties of the original footage? If you nest a clip let say at an 80% of the full scaling possibilities it then becomes a 100% when nesting, meaning if you want to scale an extra 20% you're forcing the scaling beyond. It's that right?

Welcome to the community! Nesting can be helpful when you want to apply multiple effects on top of a time-remapped clip. Generally, as Peru Bob suggested, nesting should not affect quality. However, if you reduce the scale of an image before nesting & then increase the scale of the nested clip, you may notice a loss in quality. This is because the nested clip acts as a new rasterized image. If you need to apply scale-based changes, it's better to have the full resolution intact before nesting. Hope it helps.
