Adobe Premiere crashes whenever it interacts with Windows Explorer

I'm having an ongoing problem with Premiere Pro, which has been happening for the past couple of versions.

The software crashes intermittently when it undertakes an activity which involves opening Windows explorer. For example:

  • Importing a clip
  • Setting a save location for export
  • Setting a save location for a render and replace.

Every time, I see the window which invites me to send a crash report to Adobe.

This has been happening for a while, and the previous couple of versions of Premiere, but now it seems to be coming more frequent, and in the case of setting a location for render and replace, is proving impossible as there is no workaround.

My system:

Windows 10 Enterprise

Intel Core i7-6700 3.40ghz

32gb RAM

Internal 1tb SSD drive

Network-based media drives

Adobe Premiere Pro 13.1.5

I would reinstall windows as it is happening for the last few versions.

Does this also happen when disconecting network mediadrives? Just using internal?

Also change your anti virus program and run a malware program.

That could be tricky, as it is a work machine. I might be able to try another machine and see if it occurs on that one.
