Adobe Premiere Pro Slow as heck (v24.2.1)

New Here ,
Mar 09, 2024 Mar 09, 2024

Adobe PP has been working fine a few months before, up until I finally decided to get back into video editing today on version 24.2.1. Now I just experience issues like hitting play and nothing happens because its relinking media but it should already know where its located. It also happens to freeze and take its time when I add clips in or a specific effect like 'unsharpen mask' or something. Extremely weird, it has also crashed when I have relinked the content. I have also replaced the footage in hopes it renews the file recognition but it still insists upon relinking everything. It has been pretty strange and frustrating.

I'm not really sure what the problem could be, does anybody else know?

Hello @Pierre30128189sdjc,

Thanks for writing in with your bug report. Interestingly, things were working fine before, but now they're not. Strange!

It would help if the team could get more information about your system and media. You can see the post "How do I write a bug report?" for the format and the info the team seeks. I hope that's OK.

Looking forward to helping you find a solution to the problem.

Sorry for the issue.

Thanks,
Kevin

So I changed versions of the software and instantly feels different. It's because of the scanning that it does causes my projects, clips, and whatnot to not be registered properly despite that they have been tracked and connected.

I am using the 24.0 version of the program which works like a charm so far rather than the latest one which is 24.2.1.

Here are the following of my system requirements:

- Windows 10 64-bit
- 32GB of RAM Dual-Channel DDR4 1599MHz
- B450 TOMAHAWK MAX Motherboard

- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti

- Two 6TB of storage

Thanks for reporting your information, @Pierre30128189sdjc. Your system certainly seems capable of handling almost any footage. What kind of footage are you working with? The team may need a bit more info. I upvoted your bug. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks Again,

Kevin

I have the same problem, the latest version does not work or is very slow, I went back to an earlier version and everything works fine again, there is also the same problem on my laptop
How this happens is a mystery to me

Hi @Roger voor Sarto tv,

See if deleting the media cache might help. Press Shift at launch for the option.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello @Pierre30128189sdjc,

Thanks for the message. It’s been a while since you filed this bug. Are you still having this issue in 24.4.1? If so, can you let us know?

A troubleshooting step you can try is to press Shift at launch and delete the media cache. Please try that if you have not already done so.

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hello

Yes, I still have this problem, I have already deleted the media cache several times, I only have this problem with AVI files, I only have the problem in the last 2 updates of Premiere, so older versions work fine, if I remove the AVI convert files to Mp4 files it is solved, but this is extra work, especially if these are larger files, that is why I prefer to work with the older version
I can't find another solution for this problem
Thanks for drawing attention to my problem

What codec are the AVI files? Uncompressed? What are your sequence settings?
