Anyone know a way to add markers to a timeline without being tabbed into premiere?

Hey guys, I'm an editor that frequently highlights long-form video content for my job. Videos I highlight are usually many hours long, So I usually have the video on my second monitor playing while I play something on my switch/xbox on my main monitor, then just press the M key to add a marker when I see something I think should make it in. This does limit me, however, in that I can only do stuff on third-party equipment, so if i wanted to say play something on steam while I do this I have to constantly click back to premiere whenever I want to add a marker, as the hotkey to add a marker requires you to be "tabbed in" and the sequence selected to add the marker. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to add markers to a timeline while not tabbed in, or maybe a third party program I can do this in that will import the markers?

Yes the blue focus line has to be around the sequence if you want to use the "M" key to set a keyboard shortcut. I know of no way around this.
