Are the color wheels gone in CC 2019?

I read that some feature was removed from Lumetri, though I am not clear on what.

1. Were the color wheels removed in CC 2019?

2. If so, was this done to make Premiere more like DaVinci?

Color wheels are alive and well in CC 2019.  Don't worry, the color wheels are absolutely here to stay.  You are probably thinking of the Hue-Sat radial curve tool "donut".  We changed the design of that tool to match the new curves that we added.  It's a linear graph layout and is much easier to use.  The functionality was not removed, just the UI presentation was changed.

I know of nothing that was 'removed' ... the one thing that may seem to have  been removed is the old hue/saturation control wheel tool. That has been replaced with a more common style rectangular box, and joined by five other curves that provide wondrous other controls.

I can now do targeted changes via the various curves tools that required keyed HSL's in 2018. I've got a demo on YouTube of using Lumetri with the new curves and the new multi-Lumetri drop-down controls here ...

" the Hue-Sat radial curve tool "donut".  We changed the design"

NOOOOO!!! I loved that interface. It so clear and logical. Far and away my favorite unique feature of Lumetri color. I was actually able to reproduce an Arri-like skin tone by playing with that donut. And now it's gone. The new way is much much less easy to interpret. BRING IT BACK.

Right after I'd finally come to peace with the loss of Speedgrade. Why do my favorite things always get taken away?!?

Totally agree on SpeedGrade but ... totally disagree on the doughnut. That was something I never appreciated.

Between the larger space to "work", I appreciate the way the bars that appear while adjusting points show which way adjustments will affect things.

Just had fun making a fairly decent orange and teal effect using the various new curves. You can even rotate hues around the wheel by moving the Hue vs Hue line up or down.

There are many things we can do now that just couldn't be done before.

I was always wondering how I could rotate the hue in premiere. Can you explain to me how it is done with the hue v hue curve ?

Sure ... simply "grab" the curve by clicking on it with the mouse, hold the click, and drag up or down. This rotates the entire hue 'circle' of the image.

I believe that Shift-dragging helps constrain the line. Try it.
