Audio drfiting out of sync in export in Premiere v24.0

Hi,

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

I am exporting a long file— approximately 37 minutes. By the end of the clip, the audio has drifted pretty massively out of sync.

  • It's not this way in the timeline.
  • It is not just playing back this way in quicktime (also VLC, upon upload)

I am exporting with:

  • Matched frame rate to source — 23.976
  • Matched audio to source - 48KHZ
  • VBR 2-Pass (65, 150)
  • H264

I never saw this issue until updating, but I'm not sure if that's specifically the problem. It takes a long time to export, so iterative troubleshooting has been slow.

I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thank you!

Is it variable frame rate footage?

No, it's CBR — Canon C300mkii footage, never had a problem with it before and nothing I can think of has changed.

Check the Audio Hardware Preferences. Default Audio Input should be set to No Input.

Tried switching this to no success unfortunately.

I'm trying it with "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" right now, but would rather not have to do that on every export...

Update note:

  • Doesn't happen in Prores422, but I export these length videos often for web and don't want to do a double export every time, so not an ideal solution
  • Doesn't happen in VBR 1-pass, only in VBR 2-pass (it seems so far). But similarly, I would rather use 2 pass so I don't get that ocassional low qual frame that happens often for more in 1-pass.

Any thoughts are very appreciated. Thank you.
