Audio out of sync when using dynamic link from Premiere to Audition

I've just installed the latest (2021) version of Premiere and Audition and I've run into a major problem.

I'm editing a 1-hour video podcast and I'm editing the audio in Audition using the dynamic link. When I finished and saved it, the audio file updated in Premiere  (as usual)) but now it's SHORTER THAN THE ORIGINAL clip putting everything out of sync. This has never happened before, the only difference is I'm using the latest version of Premiere and Audition 2021. For the life of me, I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for your help with this!

Is it possible you have selected "in/out" rather than "entire sequence" in the Edit in Audition dialogue?

There are inevitable problems when editing Variable frame rate video. What's your footage, could it be that?
