Audio playback for certain tracks stops at a random point

I'm regularly experiencing an issue with audio playback stopping for some tracks. Playback usually stops at around the 10-minute mark, but I've seen it occur anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes. The onset appears to be relatively consistent for a given project.

Exported media also has the track stop in the same location. No errors are logged during playback or export.

I haven't found a way to reliably reproduce the problem. It happens seemingly randomly at a seemingly random place. I have only experienced the issue with nested audio clips. Rendering audio shows the correct waveform for the clip. Audio plays correctly inside the nested clip.

Once the problem has occurred closing and reopening the project doesn't fix it. Opening a backup of the project that was made before the issue occurred also doesn't help, so I assume the problem is somewhere in the media cache.

The only way I've found of fixing the issue is:

  1. Restart Premiere without opening a project (using File -> Close Project won't fix the issue)
  2. Remove Media Cache Files -> Delete all media cache files
  3. Before opening Premiere remove the "Adobe Premiere Pro Audio Previews" folder from within the project directory.
  4. Open the project but DON'T MOVE THE PLAYHEAD. Wait for waveforms to generate, then render audio.
  5. Rinse and repeat every time it occurs

I've wasted a significant amount of time on this issue, as fixing it can take 15 minutes while the waveforms generate and the audio renders. Sometimes it will occur after around 15 minutes while other times it can take hours. Sometimes the problem only occurs during export and can be hard to notice - which isn't great if you don't notice before sending it off to a client. Don't ask how I know.
