If I drag a clip over another clip on a timeline, the underlying clip is automatically trimmed. For example, In vegas pro if i drag a clip over another clip it will act as cross fade, if i drag it to the left or right, the clip will not be trimmed. How to get this same option in premier pro.

You can't get that kind of behavior in Premiere. Dragging a clip on top of another one on the same track it will cut off that portion of the clip. To avoid that, drag the new clip onto a track above the existing one.
