Multicamera Record On/Off Toggle

Drag it from the Button Editor if it is not on your Program Monitor

Anyway I can't confirm that this makes any difference, if someone has better suggestions,

otherwise we might need to file it as a bug to the user voice?

Thanks for the button it was new to me, but yes it seems like currently pressing it does nothing and the bevahiour is the same as when one does not press it.

Found a 2 year old https://video.stackexchange.com/a/33667 post about it that describes the same.

I would expect the auto cutting to only occur when the toggle is activated as it would be in "record" mode but that does not happen.

In the attached video I have a Multicam enabled Sequence with two camera tracks. When playing the video and then switching between the cameras cuts are created at those camera switches as soon as the video is over or the playing is paused.

Pressing the Multicam Multicamera Record On/Off Toggle makes no difference in this behavior. Cuts are created always when the camera is changed.

The Adobe guides seem to imply that pressing the Toggle button is needed to have this effect.

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/create-multi-camera-source-sequence.html

(Bullet point 6. Enable recording of multi-camera edits)

So the expected behavior would have been for me that the recording toggle needs to be enabled for it to be in "record" mode and make the cuts as the cameras are switched.

What you are seeing is normal behavior.

Open the multicam sequence in the source monitor for you to scrub through first.
