AVCHD Footage refuses to import on latest Mac version of Premiere Pro

Title says it all.  AVCHD footage refuses to import on two different Intel Macs running Monterey 12.3.1 with latest Premire Pro build, 22.4.0 (Build 57).  Not sure if it matters, but footage is 1080i 59.94.

We've tried dragging the footing into the project bin, using the Import function, and the Media Browser but nothing works.  No error messages are shown and no preview files are created.  It just sits there doing nothing.

Anyone else experienceing this?

Also, just tried the same AVCHD footage on a PC with PPro 22.4 and it does import but there is no audio on the clips.  The waveform on the timeline is blank.  I tried deleteing the preview files next to the mts files and re-importing, but no dice.

Also, the footage is actually 1080P 59.94, not 1080i as originally stated.

It appears to be related to AVCHD clips that span multiple 4GB chunks.  If I stitch the mts files together in a different program before importing, the clips seem to work properly.
