I'm looking for the best way to turn my basic video off my camera into instagram sotry size. Right now the footage is 1920x1080. I want to do this without loosing quality or not by blowing it up to fit a new sequence setting. Any tips

Instagram stories are 1080x1920.  That means you need to create a new sequence in that resolution, then resize and/or letterbox your 1920x1080 video into that sequence.

I get it. But how is that possible? You only have 1080 pixels of height in the original, and IS story is 1920 high.

Jeff's method is the only way. But it will result in some loss of quality, and you'll lose pixels that are cut off left and right.

The only way to do it and not lose quality is to shoot vertically. Or shoot 4K and crop.
