I keep getting videos that are completely black in Media Encoder 2023, but with the same settings they export with video in Premiere Pro 2023.  This happens only with select videos.

What might be causing this? Is there a fix  I have > decade of using Premiere Pro so I've managed to rule the simple possible issues.

settings MP4 Hardware acceleration - has worked well for several years till now.

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear about this. Is this happening specifically with H.264 exports or with other formats as well? Also, for H.264 exports, does switching to Software Encoding help?

Thanks,

Sumeet

I'm having the exact same problem. Only happening when I export the video via encoder. It's also taking 20x longer than it used to, only to come out black. I've been using the same process for years so no idea why this is happening!

Thanks Sumeet

It would take a couple of hours to process without hardware encoding!  I am getting the problem with H265, specifically and it is happening sporadically, so most H265 exports are good out of AME, its just two out of about 25 that had this issue (and its persistent with those two files - all 25 were based with the same template).  Will try to see the scope of the problem and update with further info later.

I installed the last version of Encoder (23.5) and it's working again. Current version is 23.6

I was having the same problem, though it was in Media Encoder v23.6 with Hardware Encoding using the NVIDIA codec.

When I stopped the render and clicked "Reset Status" it worked again, but then the problem continued on the next video queued up and the next one and the next one.

I reverted back to v23.5 and the problem is fixed. So there's apparently something wrong with 23.6 using NVIDIA acceleration.

I have also been having the black screen issue. The suggested solution of installing v23.5 Media Encoder did the trick! Thanks.
